The Story
“Draftee” is a memoir written by Francis Epplin, who served in Vietnam in 1973. The memoir is divided in 3 parts where the author tells of his experiences in the war, his perspective on the reasons why the U.S. got involved, and a proposal to replace the current selective service system.
As part of the book cover design process, the author provided his own real pictures from his time in Vietnam, which were then designed in a collage and accompanied by typefaces that mirror those military documents of the time. Every single image in the front and back cover is a real image of Francis’ time in the war.
“Draftee” was published by GenZ Publishing.
